Description:
Make precision metal or plastic parts, use
computer numerically controlled machine tools and set up
and operate all of the basic machine tools and many
specialized variations for hydro-electric power generation

Salary: $12 - $21/hour

Minimum Educational Requirement: Apprenticeship Trade School

Recommended College Coursework: Metalworking, Drafting, Math, and Computer courses

Experience Needed: Entry to Mid-Level Journey level status

Growth Potential: EDD projects 3,500 new machinist jobs
in California by 2016. Hydro industry growth may be less than other economic sectors
